Jay fell in love with Hawaii decades ago and moved to Kauai because the island’s astonishing natural beauty inspires his intensely innate desire to create. His current passion is creating screenprints that capture the spirit of the islands, often of scenes that are a bit off the beaten track or perhaps unnoticed by others. His frames are crafted by hand from recycled and scavenged old wood found locally. Favorites are frames made from island driftwood—quite beautiful, and often recognized as driftwood only on close inspection.
Jay is a multidisciplinary artist known for unique photographs of Burning Man, a delightful 15-minute portrait film of his son aging from birth to 18 years, and a single performance event that captured an astonishing 5 billion media impressions worldwide. A passionate woodworker, he created a signature outdoor piece for the internationally known Sunset Magazine Test Garden in Northern California.
